Fruit Trees

Howick Intermediate was given the opportunity to become involved in the “Fruit Trees in Schools” project that Auckland City Council ran with the support of Kings Plant Barn. A couple of the keen gardeners went with Mrs Osborne to the launch of the project in September.

As well as the hard work all the gardening group, Mrs Hensley and Mrs Osborne did, huge thanks must go to Mr Osborne for collecting the trees on the trailer and helping dig the holes and Mr Hewlett for bringing in a digger with a hole borer and digging all the holes - we couldn’t have done it without you! It was a huge effort - many, many thanks to these wonderful helpers! We now have 2 apple trees, 2 pear trees, 2 feijoa trees, 2 plum trees, a orange tree and a mandarin tree. Our orchard has been started!
