Enrolment Information
Howick Intermediate School is now processing online enrolment applications. Parents should use the online enrolment process to submit in-zone.
Out of zone applications closed at 4:00 pm Wednesday 7 September. No further out of zone applications can be received.
An application requires a number of documents to be uploaded at the time of submission. These documents are to be in .pdf format. Some documents need to be downloaded from the online enrolment page, completed, then saved as a .pdf, while others will be scanned images of original documents held by parents.
NB: Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Enrolment Process
In accordance with Section 11 of the Education Act 1989, Howick Intermediate School has an Enrolment Scheme.
The purpose of an enrolment scheme is:
- to avoid overcrowding or the likelihood of overcrowding at the school;
- to ensure that the selection of applicants for enrolment at the school is carried out in a fair and transparent manner; and
- to enable the Secretary to make the best use of existing networks of State schools.

Howick Intermediate School Zone
The enrolment application process will take approximately 10 minutes. Please ensure you have ALL of the following documentation ready to upload as you work your way through the application. NB: Incomplete applications will not be processed.
- For in-zone applications two proof of residence documents. If these are not in a caregiver's name you must complete a statutory declaration, to be signed by a JP. (Statutory declarations can be requested from the school office).
- Your child's birth certificate or passport.
- Your child's visa (if applicable)
- Parent's passport with visa and date of entry into NZ (if applicable).
- Your child's most recent school report.
- Any legal documentation supporting custody/access arrangements (if applicable).
- Any documentation supporting medical conditions or learning difficulties (if applicable).
- Signed Digital Citizenship Agreement (Located on page 13 of the application form).
- Signed Student Phone Agreement (Located on page 13 of the application form).

Out of Zone Enrolments for 2023
Applications for 2023 out-of-zone enrolments must be received by 4:00 pm on Wednesday 7 September 2022.
All out-of-zone applications are subject to the ballot process which takes place on Wednesday 14 September 2022.
Out-of-zone applications use the same online enrolment procedure as in-zone students - except in-zone applications must provide two forms of proof of residence.
If we receive more enrolment applications than we have spaces available, selection will be made according to a ballot process determined by Ministry of Education guidelines.
The order of priority is as follows:
- First priority must be given to any applicant who is accepted for enrolment in a special programme run by the school. (Not currently applicable to Howick Intermediate)
- Second priority must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student of the school.
- Third priority must be given to any student who is the sibling of a former student of the school.
- Fourth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
- Fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
- Sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.

Annual Enrolment Procedure
Term 3
- 26 - 28 July - Our Principal, Deputy Principal and School Councillors visit our main contributing schools, and information on how to enroll will be provided. We welcome applications for in-zone and out of zone students.
- 11 August - Open Day
- 7 September - Out of Zone applications close
- 14 September - Ballot for out of zone spaces is conducted if necessary. Applicants are notified.
Term 4
- 9 November - Orientation visits for our year 6 students enrolled to attend Howick Intermediate. New parent information evening.
