The Howick Difference

The world today is rapidly changing and will continue to do so. It is very different from the one many of us grew up in, which can make preparing our children for the future a challenging task. At Howick Intermediate we not only understand this, but are excited about the challenge of preparing students in the middle years of schooling (11 -13 years old). We recognise our students are the leaders of the future and need to be well prepared for what lies ahead.

Our vision is to create a school culture that is focused on excellence, where every person is encouraged and enabled to succeed in a safe, happy and stimulating environment. We model our core values and can confidently say that at Howick we thrive on 'PRAISE' - Perseverance, Respect, Attitude, Integrity, Service and Excellence. We see these as the hallmarks of successful individuals and ensure they are key features of the learning experience at Howick.

There is a strong focus on student learning and we have high expectations about behaviour. Students at Howick Intermediate benefit from access to a carefully created, future-focused curriculum, designed to provide them with rich, authentic learning opportunities. Students are given maximum opportunity to engage in digital learning (more information available Digital Learning). We also actively encourage all our students to engage in a range of sporting, artistic and cultural activities to complement their classroom learning.

We always welcome questions, comments or feedback from our community. Please feel free to contact us at any time to find out more about the ‘Howick Difference’.
